Week Four Reflection

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the out of order posts! Technology has not been my friend, but no fear! I'm able to post my missing reflections with labels you can hopefully understand because we all have a fantastic growth mindset:) If you look below, you can see under week four that I had some fun playing around with the program "Storyline Online", and viewed a virtual storybook called "Rainbow Fish." Throughout the remainder of class, we used the Google forms program and created a fun quiz based on the reading for our classmates to tryout! If you look below you will see mine posted, so feel free to give it a go! Finally, each teacher candidate was able to brainstorm some ideas for our upcoming movie trailer and Ted talk that we must create for our Genius Hour Project. I'll be posting mine shortly for your viewing pleasure. Let me know what you guys think!

Ps: Thank you for cooperating with my unique way of organizing my most recent posts.

Cheers :)

Julia

Let's get Ukadelic! (Week 2)

Hello everyone!

For my Genius Hour Project, I have chosen the question of "How does one master the ukulele in 6 weeks?" The back story behind my reason for choosing this question is, as a child my parents registered me for a variety of different musical instrument lessons. Being a stubborn 7 year old, I never had the patience or attention span to fully commit myself before giving up and wanting to play with something else! It frustrates me whenever I hear the sound of a beautiful instrument and wishing I had that talent! So here I am, ready and fully committing myself to learning the simple four chords of this very tiny and unique instrument they call the ukulele!

Wish me luck friends!

Closer activity

Up to this point in the course, I have learned so much and am much more confident in my ability to work technology! Growing up, technology such as laptops and ipads were never incorporated into my education so it is amazing to see the innovative changes that I can apply to my own life and my own future classroom. Currently in my teacher education program, I am very mindful of the incorporation of technology in each of my courses. It has motivated me to learn more about different applications and programs for my own benefit and for my future students benefit!

Week 5

Hi everyone! This week was very informative and I learned a great deal with the informative learning objectives. This learning objective I would incorporate into my own classroom would be Padlet. This is such a an excellent tool for educators to use, as it is a virtual board where students can obtain information that has been relayed by the educator. Not only can educators use this, but students as well in order to express themselves in a unique and technological way! Here is my padlet.

Storyline Online

Hi everyone! Today, I played around with Storyline Online by watching a verbal dramatic narration of the book "The rainbow fish." Below provides you with the video narration and a few questions I came up with to assess your comprehension! Enjoy :)

Week Three Reflection

Hello digital world! Today's class was very productive and informative! Personally being non-techno savvy, I had a lot of fun playing around with the Powtoon program and creating our Genius hour slide show. After this, we explored and critically reviewed different videos including a Ted Talk presentation and a clip from the show titled "Mr.D" Overall, I can't believe how much I've learned from this class and it is fascinating to see how much technology can be incorporated into the classroom! Thanks for reading :) Julia

DG1: COPYRIGHT

Did you know every original piece of media form on the internet is copyrighted in North America? The creation of graphics, video clips, audio recordings, and other digital multimedia, can only be used by the creator itself unless otherwise given permission to use it. Can you imagine the inconvenience of having to contact and gain permission of every media form before using it? I have learned through Genius Hour that users can obtain others work through the creators release of copyright licenses.

As an educator, I feel it is necessary to stress the importance of not plagiarizing off others, and instead, thinking for ourselves. It is our responsibility to set an example of authenticity, while promoting the use of the Copyright Act when students are using other peoples work.
